The 14-year-old girl, Amina Ibrahim, whose skin got burnt after she took septrin, has passed away. Amina complained of cold and cough on the 26th of May, 2016, and visits a chemist in their area at Dala LGA of Kano State, where she bought the septrin. Later in the evening, she took the drug and within an hour, her lips and tongue got swollen and her eyes became red.
She was later taken to Mohammed Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital in Kano State, where she died of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS), a rare, serious disorder of skin and mucous membranes that is usually a reaction to a medication or an infection.
